Star Wars Themed Cupcakes | #StarWars

My husband is a big Star Wars fan.  I have to admit, I hadn’t even seen the movies until recently.  I had always seen bits and pieces of them, just never any of the movies in their entirety.  So lately, we have been working our way through the movies and introducing them to our boys, as well.  This weekend was a bit of a Star Wars weekend at our house as we get ready for the release of Episode VII:  The Force Awakens.  And to make it a little extra special since my two older boys have really been enjoying the movies, I decided to make some themed cupcakes.

I did a bit of searching on Pinterest, as I usually do for any type of creative endeavor and I found these, that I absolutely loved!  Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to visit the blog that they’re originally from, but I used the images as a starting point.

I don’t have any real type of tutorial for these, but I will say that I used fondant, a combination of mini cookie cutters in various shapes and sizes and a rolling pin.  You can typically find the mini cutters at a craft store.  I also had some gold luster dust that I used with a few drops of water to paint onto C3PO to give him a shiny gold look.

I even made sure to put the Dark Side characters (Darth Vader& Kylo Ren) on our Dark Side (chocolate ganache iced) cupcakes and our Light Side characters (C3PO & Leia) on our Light Side (white chocolate ganache) cupcakes.

My boys also LOVED watching me make these fondant toppers and of course really enjoyed eating them and the cupcakes as well!
